Job Description

full-time (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per payperiod) As Scheduled Job Summary: Assists Nursing Research Consultant in planning, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive Evidence Based Practice and Nursing Research Program that impacts clinical, educational, and administrative nursing practice at Susquehanna Health. Provides day to day oversight of plan developed by consultant for the development, implementation, and promotion of evidence based practice and nursing research activities. Guides and mentors professional nursing staff in understanding, conducting, and critically analyzing research in practice. Oversees nursing research projects annually. Acquires research grants to expand program. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: The RN/Clinical Research Specialist is a facilitator, coach, and mentor who possesses the ability to facilitate the application of professional nursing research theory into evidence based practice as demonstrated by current knowledge, practice experience, and research proposal. The Specialist has specific knowledge and understanding of aspects of evidence based practice, research protocol and can utilize that knowledge to teach and mentor staff in building a culture of inquiry. The Specialist is adept at building and sustaining collaborative working relationships with staff, physicians, and administration. Utilizes concepts of continuous improvement in all activities. Clearly understands the purpose, objectives, and practice of project planning, project implementation, and rapid cycle analysis of project impact. Must maintain a professional image and demonstrate strong, principled customer service skills in all aspects of the role. Hours of work require flexibility to all shifts and weekends to meet all job requirements. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Minimum of a Master's Degree required (either Bachelor's or Master's Degree must be in nursing). Experience: Minimum five years of clinical hospital experience and previous experience with qualitative and quantitative nursing research in academic or clinical setting required. License/Certification/Registration: Licensed as a professional, Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Full range of body motion, including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Color vision and hearing within normal parameters or corrected to normal values. Must function effectively within a high profile and periodically stressful environment. Minimal exposure to infectious and hazardous substances is possible. Requires physical and emotional stamina to stressful situations, and ability to work hours necessary to complete the requirements of the job. Requires occasional period of sitting and extended periods of walking and standing.
