Job Description

part-time (0.5 FTE - 40 hours per pay period) As Scheduled Job Summary: Provides basic nursing care to residents within the scope of nursing assistant responsibilities under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN/LPN). Must be able to recognize the needs of various aged populations and provide age appropriate care as needed. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and standards to assist in the delivery of resident care. Knowledge of equipment to assist in administering resident care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying techniques and use of equipment to assist in providing resident care. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to maintain quality standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Education: High school diploma or equivalency preferred. Successful completion of State approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program. Experience: Prior experience as a nurse aide in long term care preferred, but not required. License/Certification/Registration: Must maintain current enrollment and certification in the Pennsylvania State Registry as a nurse aide and be in good standing. Must maintain a minimum of 12 hours annual continuing education including 2 hours of Abuse Prevention education. CPR certified preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Professional in dealing with residents, families, employees, physicians and the public. Strenuous physical demands to resident care. Continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending and twisting. Requires heavy lifting up to 100 pounds and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Good judgment, decision-making, time management and memory required. Varying degrees of stress. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. Requires corrected and color vision and hearing to normal range.
