Job Description

per diem As Scheduled Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: This professional registered nurse will demonstrate skill in the application and modification of principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing and the nursing process in the management of patient care. Skill in identifying problems and aberrations in patient progress that will include the recommendation of appropriate solutions and interventions. Understands his/her professional responsibility to assure quality and safety for patients, staff, and families. Demonstrates calm reaction to emergency situations and implementation of effective management in emergency patient care situations. Must be able to communicate clearly, read and speak using the English language. Must demonstrate proper use of English grammar and spelling in written or electronic communications. Must demonstrate skill establishing effective team dynamics as well as the ability to influence and delegate appropriately to members of the health care team. Applies processes to continually improve patient care by utilizing evidence and data to outcomes and goals. Understands his/her role in building and sustaining effective working relationships with staff, managers, physicians, patients, and families. Maintains a professional image and demonstrates principled customer service skills in all aspects of his/her role. Education: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing. Commitment to professional development through formal course work and continuing education credit opportunities. Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a licensed professional nurse in an acute care setting. Critical Care experience preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Current, valid Registered Nurse license for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Within the first 90 days of employment, must obtain a current and valid card for completion of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Requires heavy lifting up to 40 pounds by self, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Requires corrected and color vision, and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to bodily fluids and/or communicable diseases.
