Job Description
part-time (0.9 FTE - 72 hours per pay period) Days Job Summary: Provide physician support services to patients both in the clinical and clerical areas of a Susquehanna Health Medical Group office. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must work well with people in a mature and professional manner. Good interpersonal skills essential. Ability to organize and function effectively with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to follow verbal and written orders and work independently. Must have the following skills: Phlebotomy, giving injections, taking vital signs, typing transcription, medical terminology, computer skills, billing and insurance knowledge. Taking patient histories, assisting with office procedures, use of clinical equipment, telephone triage, and knowledge of medical record filing procedure, billing and insurance. Demonstrates ability to use English language, both verbal and written. Ability to type with a minimum of errors using proper grammar, syntax and spelling. Ability to perform general math and reasoning skills. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Education: Medical Assistant training with a certificate or diploma from a certified school of Medical Assistants, or eligible for such certification, or at least two years continuous recent experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical practice. Must maintain knowledge of latest developments in nursing practice techniques. Experience: Prior experience in a health care setting performing both clinical and clerical duties is preferred. Billing and third party payor knowledge. Previous experience in medical office preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Current certification or registration for Medical Assistant is preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Individuals must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job (manual dexterity, visual acuity, normal physician office environment with exposure to hazardous and infectious materials, unpleasant odors and sights, fumes and electrical shock). Must be able to monitor and manipulate delicate equipment. Physician office. No unusual accident or health hazards inherent in position. Environment is modern, well-lit office area with no unusual working conditions. Working time will be days, evenings or nights.
