Job Description
part-time (0.9 FTE - 72 hours per pay period) Evenings/Nights Job Summary: The LPN, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Physician, participates in the delivery of patient care within the constraints of their license and hospital/unit policy. Performs those technical functions requiring an advanced level of participation and knowledge. Supports the daily operation of the department through participation in nursing, patient, and clerical support activity. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on age-specific requirements. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and standards to assist in the delivery of patient care. Ability to speak, read, write, spell, and comprehend English. Ability to utilize email and electronic forms of communication effectively, as appropriate. Knowledge of equipment to administer patient care. Knowledge of and ability to deal with common safety hazards and associated precautions to establish and maintain a safe work environment. Ability to acquire specific knowledge and technical skills as required by assigned unit(s). Skill and ability in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to develop flexibility in applying skills to a variety of work situations. Skill in using computer and telecommunications systems on assigned unit(s). Education: Graduate of an NLN approved licensed practical nursing program. Experience: After successful completion of orientation, will attain competence in practice. License/Certification/Registration: Current, valid practical nursing license. Meets criteria to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of PA as established by the Professional Nursing Law. Within 90 days of employment, obtains and maintains current card for American Heart Association Basic Life Support. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires heavy lifting up to 40 pounds by self, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Requires corrected and color vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to bodily fluids and/or communicable diseases.
