Job Description

full-time (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per payperiod) 1st Job Summary Social Worker/Masters provides direct and indirect social work services to patient/families to facilitate discharge planning and to enhance their social functioning, particularly as it relates to the consequences of illness and disability. In addition, consultation services and instruction in theory/technique will be provided to health care professionals upon request. Orientation and instruction of new staff or supervision of baccalaureate degree workers or students will also be done as needed. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Requires excellent interpersonal skills, ability to relate well to wide range of people, need to be good problem solver, must clearly document assessments and interactions, initiate and function with high degree of independence, must be able to use Hospital Management Information System and access/utilize the department's Policy & Procedure Manual and numerous resource directories. Education Requires a Master's degree from an accredited School of Social Work. Experience Prior experience in health care setting preferred. License/Certification/Registration The National Association of Social Workers (optional). Pennsylvania State Licensure (optional) Professional Affiliations Equipment Utilized Physical Requirements and Working Conditions The job requires a great deal of mobility covering virtually any area of hospital complex. There is also a large amount of desk and phone work, documentation, listening, speaking and reading. Clinical environment may include unpleasant odors or potential exposure to hazardous materials and/or communicable disease. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
