Job Description

part-time (0.5 FTE - 40 hours per pay period) Days Job Summary: The speech-language pathologist is responsible for implementation of standards of care for speech language pathology services and for adherence to all conditions of participation for home care and hospice. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Demonstrated ability to read, write, and clearly communicate in the English language. Skill in establishing and maintaining good relationships with patients, families, staff, and physicians. Ability to perform all aspects of patient care as a speech language pathologist, including computer documentation with the electronic medical record. Ability to exercise good judgment to effectively manage many situations. Education: Masters degree in speech language pathology. Experience: One year of clinical experience preferred, but will consider new graduates. Home health experience is desired. License/Certification/Registration: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Certification of clinical competence by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association is preferred. Must have CPR certification or obtain within the first 90 days of employment. Professional Affiliations: ASHA membership preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Requires full range of motion and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, ascend/descend steps, and lift, manipulate, and transfer patients. Requires manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions at times. May be exposed to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. May require work schedule changes and/or additional hours may be requested. Works in a variety of situations, mainly in the home environment.
