Job Description
full-time (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per payperiod) Days/Evenings Job Summary: Delivers pharmaceutical services to both inpatients and ambulatory patients to include the preparation and dispensing of drugs, the provision of drug information and other pharmaceutical services necessary to promote the rational use and administration of drugs by health professionals and the public. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of pharmacy theory and practice to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, Knowledge of organization policies and procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations that govern the delivery of pharmaceutical care. Knowledge of medical equipment, supplies and instruments to compound, dispense and/or test pharmaceutical products. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe pharmacy work environment. Skill in identifying drug related problems and recommending solutions, Skill in English grammar and spelling in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, evaluations and protocols. Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with pharmacy staff, nursing and other departments, the medical staff, patients and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards especially in the Sterile Products room (IVAS). Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to develop, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. Must be able to recognize the special age-related needs of all patients including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Education: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Experience: 1-3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Current licensure as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Professional Affiliations: Membership in National and Local organizations preferred Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Prolonged sitting and/or standing with and without keyboard use. Ability to communicate by phone. Repetitive activities which require concentration and close attention to details. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires lifting of items up to 25 pounds, sometimes with frequent stretching, stooping, bending, turning, pushing and pulling. May require the handling of some chemicals (isopropanol, ethanol, acetone, etc.) plus chemotherapeutic drugs and blood products (albumin and gamma globulin).
