Job Description

full-time (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per payperiod) Days Job Summary: Provides safe and effective nursing care for the physician office. Administers to needs of the patients by following established procedures and standards of care accurately. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must work well with people in a mature and professional manner. Good interpersonal skills essential. Ability to organize and function effectively with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to follow verbal and written orders and work independently. Must have the following skills: Phlebotomy, giving injections, taking vital signs, IV infusions, medical terminology, computer skills, billing and insurance knowledge. Taking patient histories, assisting with office procedures, use of clinical equipment, telephone triage, and knowledge of medical record filing procedure, billing and insurance. Demonstrates ability to use English language, both verbal and written. Ability to perform general math and reasoning skills. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Education: Completion of State approved course of study for Practical Nurse training or Associates degree, diploma degree or BS degree in Nursing. Must maintain knowledge of latest developments in nursing practice techniques. Experience: Previous experience in medical office preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Current PA Licensed Practical Nurse licensure or current PA registered nurse licensure. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Individuals must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job (manual dexterity, visual acuity, normal physician office environment with exposure to hazardous and infectious materials, unpleasant odors and sights, fumes and electrical shock). Must be able to monitor and manipulate delicate equipment. Physician office. No unusual accident or health hazards inherent in position. Environment is modern, well-lit office area with no unusual working conditions. Working time will be days, evenings or nights. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. This job requires light lifting. As defined by the dictionary of Occupational Titles, light Lifting means exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
