Job Description
full-time (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per payperiod) 1st Job Summary: Preparation and dispensing of drugs, provisions of drug information and all other pharmaceutical services necessary to promote the rational use and administration of drugs by health professionals and the public. Responsible for daily operations including staff scheduling for the Pharmacy including retail, long term care and home infusion pharmacy services. Maintains pharmacy license and meets all regulatory requirements. Assists Director in developing, coordinating, implementing and communicating policies and procedures, quality improvement initiatives, goals and objectives and business strategies. Orients, trains and assesses competencies of staff. Provides a positive work environment and exhibits CARE behaviors. Meets and exceeds established business metrics for sales growth, inventory turns, customer satisfaction and expense control. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must possess good communication and negotiating skills. Demonstrates skills and traits of leadership. Demonstrates skills in team building and cooperative working relationships with pharmacy, nursing and medical staff as well as all other interfacing SH departments. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Demonstrates skills in creativity and innovation to problem solve and adaptability to change in self and others. Excellent patient counseling skills and experience in dealing with customer service issues. Must be able to recognize the special age-related needs of all patients including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Education: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy program required. Masters Degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years retail pharmacy experience required. Experience in long term care home infusion preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Pennsylvania pharmacist license required. Authorization to administer injectables required (unless staff Pharmacist at site has this certification). Professional Affiliations: National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA)optional Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Full range of motion to involve sitting, walking, standing, reaching, and kneeling. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to handle equipment. Visual acuity, listening, verbal and written communication ability required. Ability to adjust to work environments that may be unpleasant, unconventional, and uncomfortable. Potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials. Requires ability to carry weight up to 25 lbs.
